Sometimes as an English major I feel that I'm expected to be like the person in this cartoon. I'm supposed to be in awe of the beauties of the world and eloquently point them out to others through beautiful poetry and prose. In actuality, I'm more like the rose in the cartoon. I like to state things matter-of-factly and just leave it without any fancy embellishments. I'm still not sure whether that's a good or bad thing. Oh well.

I wish flowers could talk like that in real life.
I always thought you were as sweet as a rose, brother. awwwwwww.
There has always been a place for the trite and witty: Candide for one.
I have always thought of you as just like a rose: Skinny and prickly, but with a large head.
And not so much skinny anymore.
